Hey Girl, Where Your Mind At?

2 min read

Let’s be completely honest for a second. Take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, and clear your jaw. Now, I want to ask you a real question: Hey girl, where your mind at?

Because if you’re anything like the rest of us, it’s probably running a million miles an hour in ten different directions. You’re physically sitting in one place, but mentally, you’re drafting tomorrow’s to-do list, replaying a conversation from three days ago, worrying about the future, or just feeling completely disconnected from the present moment.

It is so easy to let life pull us everywhere except the right here and now. But today, we are hitting the pause button. It’s time to check in, regroup, and bring your focus back home.

The Danger of the "Scattered Mind"

When our minds are everywhere, we are nowhere. Running on mental autopilot makes us miss the beauty of our actual lives. We become reactive instead of intentional. We react out of exhaustion, stress, or overwhelm simply because we haven't given our minds a clean, quiet space to rest.

You cannot pour from an empty cup, and you certainly cannot lead, love, or thrive when your mind is a cluttered storm.

3 Ways to Bring Your Mind Back to Center

If you feel like your thoughts have wandered off into a wilderness of worry or distraction, here is how you can gently guide them back:

  • Do a Mental Brain Dump: When your mind feels heavy, stop trying to hold it all. Grab a journal or a piece of paper and write down everything you are thinking about. Don't worry about making it pretty or organized. Just get it out of your head so your brain can breathe.

  • Practice the 5-Minute Check-In: Set an alarm on your phone for midday. When it goes off, ask yourself this exact question: Where is my mind right now? If you're spiraling or stressing, use that moment to pivot your focus back to something positive or peaceful.

  • Ground Yourself in Faith and Quiet: Find a quiet space, even if it's just for five minutes. Step away from the noise, the notifications, and the demands of the world. Center your spirit, pray, or sit in silence to remind yourself that you don't have to carry the weight of the universe today.

You Are the Gatekeeper of Your Peace

Girl, protect your mind. Be fiercely intentional about what you allow to take up space in your thoughts. If it doesn't bring you peace, growth, or joy, it doesn't deserve a permanent lease in your brain.

The next time you feel the chaos starting to take over, take a step back, look in the mirror, and check in with yourself. Your mind is a powerful thing—make sure it’s staying in a place of strength, clarity, and purpose.
